Introduction

Hello, I'm Gwyndolyn Clerkx or Gwyn for short and this is the CAS blog I'll be using to keep track of my CAS activities.

What is CAS?

The initials stand for Creative, Action and Service. During the IB diploma programme I will have to do 50 hours of creative, 50 for Action and 50 for Service to get my 150 CAS hours complete. CAS plays a big role in the DP program aswell, for without it you will not receive your IB diploma. CAS will also be a good experience and great way to get involved in the local communities as well as the international ones. I think CAS for me will also be a good way to talk to people more and become less shy, it will also be a great oppurtunity for helping people, getting creative and developing new skills.
Of course there some things to keep an eye on when doing the activities
  1. you can't get payed for the activity, unless you are working to raise money
  2. you need a supervisor, and this person can't be family or friend
  3. you have to write a reflection for every activity

About me

My name is Gwyndolyn, but I prefer Gwyn. I just turned 16 and I'm going into 11th grade at ISP. I moved to Paris last year and started going to ISP last year aswell. I'm orginally from the Netherlands and i have lived there for 15 years. I speak Dutch and English fluently and I'm still learning French. Some of my interests include; Music, photography, writing, reading, cooking and I also quite enjoy decorating. I'm also quite interested in learning a new instrument because I already play the flute. I also love playing with and looking after kids.

My CAS plans

For CAS I hope to combine some of the things I love doing with the activities. For service I would love to volunteer at perhaps a local daycare centre or maybe even at the hospital, to brighten their day.I would like to be able to help other students by tutoring some of them on subjects they are having trouble with and that I'm good at. For action I hope to do some sports, maybe join some of the clubs at school and maybe do some performances with my flute or join the school play. For creative it may be hard to combine my interests with things i can do, i would love to do some photography or drawing lessons as well as improving my writing skills.

I hope that the activities will also help me improve on my social skills as well as my French skills.
