Reflection Concert band

Concert Band

At the start of my last school year I joined the school's concert band. I did this because I could not take the music course in the IB. Futhermore it also gave me more oppurtunity to play flute more often. In the concert band we play a range of piece which is a lot of fun. It also gives me the oppurtunity to improve more on my skills. Moreover I also help the music teacher set up the room beforehand and clean up afterwards.

Time: 10 hours creative

Reflection

reflection based on the learning outcomes
  • Increased awareness of your strengths and areas of growth: Playing in the concert band requires me to be aware of which music pieces I am strong in and on which piece I need to spend more time rehearsing. This activity enables me to increase my awareness of my own strengths and areas of growth, also outside of the concert band and allows me to apply it in my classes. It is important to be aware of my strenghts and weaknesses so I can make sure that I will be better each rehearsal.
  • working collaboratively with others: This activity has helped me a great deal with working collaboratively with others. Playing in a concert means everyone has to have a good communication with eachother and it requires everyone to work together. furthermore it means that sometimes others need more help and that you have to be quiet so that they can be helped, which will eventually make the whole of the music piece sound better. moreover in concert band sometimes you have to help others who may be less experienced.

Reflection based on the learner profile
  • Reflective: This activity requires me to be reflective of my own skills and more importantly my weaknesses. If I was not reflective I would not be able to improve on the musical pieces and improve my skills. Furthermore it also helps me to be more reflective in my classes.
